America's rarest gold piece - the 1933 double eagle!
A 24K pure gold clad proof of the rarest U.S. government $20 gold piece. Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the double eagle gold piece was minted between 1907 and 1933. When minting stopped, President Roosevelt ordered all gold coinage to be returned to the treasury to be melted down. One of these gold pieces miraculously survived the meltdown and was sold for a record $7.59 million dollars! This masterpiece is a tribute to that coin and is clad in 24K pure gold. Protective presentation case included.
