It sits parallel to the tub and can adjust from 3"-7" in width and 14"-17" in height, all without the need for tools. I have one exactly the same as this but it does not adjust. It is really good for the elderly and those with difficulties getting in and out of the bathtub. I have an older tub (not claw foot) and had to cinch a board on the outside but it works perfectly. I wish mine was adjustable like this one, but otherwise it is exactly the same.
