I received the Samsung DVD-V9800 DVD Player / VCR Recorder combo. This combo is really two independent devices in one box. The VCR can not record from the DVD, and the DVD is a player, not a recorder. Further, the outputs are also separate. The DVD outputs through HDMI or component cables. The VCR inputs/outputs through old-style analog video/audio cables. Picture quality and features of the VCR are appropriate for the technology. Note that the unit does not have a tuner. Recording is from the Line Input jacks. Picture and sound quality on the DVD are satisfactory. Look up the specs of this device on the Internet to see its surprisingly long list of features.
