This unique pendant is artistically attached to an 18" Sterling Silver chain with five delicately woven rings. Issued from 1851-1873, the denomination of the new Silver Three Cent Piece, or trime as it was sometimes called, was intended to facilitate the purchase of postage stamps under the new 3-cent rate.
