Dear Valued Heartland America Customer:

Heartland America, in voluntary cooperation with the U. S. Consumer Products Safety Commission ("CPSC"), is issuing a recall of the Wood Spindle Stool, item number 56147, which you purchased from us.

We have discovered that the stool was not designed to our strict quality standards, and therefore it may crack and break while being used. This breakage can result in personal injury and/or property damage. Specifically, there have been reports of one or more of the screws holding the top of the legs to the support base tearing out of the wood, causing the stool to collapse while being used.

Because of the potential danger involved with continued use of the product, we are requiring you to return one leg of the stool to us so that the stool can no longer be used. We will also use the leg to confirm with the CPSC that the stool you purchased has been removed from use.

Enclosed with this letter is an envelope with a pre-paid shipping label, to be used to ship the leg back to us at our expense. We are also enclosing a step-by-step instruction sheet for disassembling the leg, together with an Allen wrench needed for the disassembly. Simply follow the instructions to remove one leg from the stool, place the leg and the instruction sheet into the enclosed envelope, and drop it off at any U.S. Post Office. You should discard all the remaining parts of the stool.

We are extremely sorry for this inconvenience, and will mail you a check for a full refund of your purchase price, including shipping, and any other charges you may have paid, plus a coupon for $10.00 off of your next order from Heartland America as soon as we receive the leg from the recalled stool. This procedure is required by the CPSC so that we can insure that all stools subject to the recall are removed from use.

If you have any questions about this notice, or the recall procedure, please call 1-800-398-8163 Central Time during the hours of 8 am to 5 pm, or you can visit our recall web page located at
